Mervyn leads Edlong’s Global Innovation and Research & Development groups, accelerating innovative flavor solutions for our customers.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences, Mervyn holds a Master’s degree in Microbial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics. Prior to joining Edlong, Mervyn held high-level leadership roles within the industry and is the recipient of multiple patents for his work.

Mervyn’s depth of experience in commercializing innovation provides Edlong customers with breakthrough opportunities to positively impact people, planet, and profit.

My favorite thing about being a part of the Edlong Team is:
Joining a family of about a hundred people and a company that has been in business for over a century! Also, I love to cook and love to eat, so rejoining the flavor business with a global leader in Dairy flavors just feels right. This decision has been validated many times over with everyone that I have had the pleasure to meet so far. I am energized by the aggressive growth targets and joining all the journey towards that destination and beyond.

The one thing that almost nobody knows about me is:
I used to compete in amateur ballroom dancing competitions at the University of Minnesota – I actually defended my Ph.D. thesis and competed in a dance competition in the same week.

When I am not working, I’m:
Gardening, hiking, walking, biking, cooking, coming up with innovative ways to aggravate my wife (who is a saint) and my two teenage daughters (no explanation required 😊).
